Peace Feast
During my internship at InterVarsity Christian Fellowship I had the opportunity to design a website for Peace Feast. This website was built to provide easier access to resources for Muslim and Christian students to share a meal. My work on this project consisted of communicating with client and developers, creating wireframes, high fidelity prototypes on Figma, and creating a brand and style for the site. Although I was the sole designer on this project I had the opportunity to talk with other designers and developers to gain feedback on my designs and process.
Role: Designer
Duration: 2 months
Design process
Starting with the journey
Before starting design on any project I first work to understand the current process and what they new process should look like
Another important aspect of designing a brand new website is collecting current content and organizing using information architecture
Wireframes!
I am old school. Sketching on paper ... or even better whiteboards for my initial designs helps me to seek creative solutions before I move my wireframes into a digital format.

Outcome
Naming the pages was an aspect of the project i worked extensively on. I chose "Understand," "Plan," and "Connect" to reflect the user journey I researched and created earlier in the project.
Part of this project was to redefine some branding to both align Peace Feast to the overall brand guidelines of the larger organization (InterVarsity) and at the same time give it a unique identity. I did this by chosing colors which exist within the image then find similar counterparts within the larger organization's brand.
There was a lot of content which needed to be included on the site, specifically on the plan page so I decided to use drop downs so as to not overwhelm the user with the process which otherwise would seem long and labor intensive.
Content design was a large part of the project, both using and editing existing content and creating new content. On each page I simplified language and kept in mind to keep consistent language throughout the site.

Challenges
Consistent vision between clients was the biggest challenge throughout this project. As I started in on this project I assumed the client had a vision and goal based on the documentation received. This vision was not shared with all members involved in the process which led to one of the head stakeholders who was unable to make it to the initial onboarding meeting to be dissatisfied with the final product.
If I were to do this project again I would have scheduled and facilitated a meeting with all the stakeholders for them to collaborate and find a consistent vision among them.
