UX Resource Hub

As my senior design project I researched into how UX resources might be utilized and how a hub may be built to provide easier access to UX resources for students and faculty in the future.

Role: Designer

Team size: 3

Duration: 16 weeks

Design process

Starting with the people

One goal was to obtain quantitative data to inform the reach of the potential problems. Initial questions are:

- How many students are comfortable with the resources they currently have?

- How many students find it easy to find resources?

- How many students would utilize a centralized resource hub?

Another goal of the research was to obtain qualitative results on students' thoughts, feelings, and mental models surrounding UX resources. With our research, we plan to answer these questions

- Do UX students want a centralized hub of resources?

- How would students prefer this hub to look?

- How can we sort/categorize content?

- What type of hub could be useful? (wiki, doc list, other)

To accomplish these goals, we conducted research through a survey, professor interviews, and two moderated in-person focus groups including participatory design sessions.

Design

After initial sketching, as a team, low-Mid fidelity mockups were created and iterated upon in Figma. Two separate pages were created based on research: a page for academic resources and another page for professional research. Each included features from research.

A style guide was created from mood boards designed by the team after discussion of user's needs.

Recommendations

We researched software and ranked them according to design needs to provide recommendations to the UX department and future teams on how to proceed with development
